2. Adrian Amos, FS Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have to navigate lightly due to the low cap space they have. Therefore, keeping a player like Adrian Amos may not fit into the team’s plans.

Regardless of the intentions the Bears have, Amos will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Pro Football Focus had him rated as one of the best safeties in the NFL in 2018.

As mentioned before, the Broncos struggled at times to defend the pass in 2018. Adding a play making, proven safety would help alleviate those struggles for 2019. Yes, he plays the same position as current Broncos free safety Justin Simmons.

Simmons looks good on paper, but he doesn’t find himself ranked well. Either way, moves can be made to help accommodate both players, and Amos is simply an upgrade.

Amos should be at the top of the Broncos’ shopping list because they need a safety and it seems unlikely Landon Collins becomes a free agent. It is unclear the payday Amos is seeking. In four years as a starter, he has collected 269 combined tackles, 230 solo tackles, two sacks and he has picked off three passes.

Not to mention, the team’s newly hired head coach is Vic Fangio. He served as the defensive coordinator for the Bears from 2015-2018, so he is more than familiar with Amos and the type of player he is.
