Round 2 – No Pick

This pick was part of the package the Jets used to trade up to take Sam Darnold. Indianapolis will hold this pick in 2019.

Round 3 – Pick 68

Oshane Ximines, EDGE, Old Dominion

After missing out on the top pass rushers in the first round it was a glaring need when the Jets next pick came rolling around. New York desperately needs a player who can get pressure off the edge. Luckily for them Old Dominion’s Oshane Ximines was sitting there.

Ximines got pushed down the board thanks in part to the small school background and limited tape of him against top competition. He had a chance in Mobile to put those concerns to rest. Ximines is a Senior Bowl participant and more than held his own. The sentiment from the week of practice was that he may be raw but can be coached up and used in a rotation until that development comes.

Where he excels is with excellent hand usage and a non-stop motor. For someone who checks in under 250 pounds, he never backs down from a challenge. There is something to be said for the fact that his best game this season came against a tough Virginia Tech opponent.

For New York he would give the team a technically refined player who can win with hand placement, and a great pass rush plan. The guy just knows how to disrupt offenses and be in the opposing backfield. He is the type of edge player that can stay on the field for all three downs regardless of situation if he can add some muscle to his frame. New York would be lucky to have him.
