3. Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders did not have many bright spots last season, as the team won only four games in Jon Gruden’s return to the sidelines. While most of the defense struggled in 2018, the team did get some good play from former first round draft pick, safety Karl Joseph, who put together his best season as a pro.

Heading into the 2019 NFL season, Oakland has a lot of work to do at the safety position outside of Joseph, as their other three active players at the position will be free agents. The Raiders are likely to bring back Erik Harris, who was a pleasant surprise this summer, but the rest of the unit will be replaced via the NFL Draft, and free agency.

Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther saw good things from his unit down the stretch, but will need to find bodies with 33 pending free agents on the roster. The Raiders have the cap space to bring in some big names this offseason, and Landon Collins is a player who makes sense for their long-term growth.

Collins is still very young, and has already proven he can be a Pro Bowl player at the NFL level. The Raiders are really building up this team for the move to Las Vegas, and they can afford to spend some cash this summer, as they will open up a ton more cap space next offseason, which is their first after the move.
