Landon Collins rumors: 5 best fits in NFL free agency
By Brad Weiss
1. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers got Aaron Rodgers back under center this past season, after missing nearly the entire 2017 campaign with a broken collarbone. Unfortunately, the return of Rodgers was not enough to get the Packers back into the playoffs, and head coach Mike McCarthy lost his job because of it.
This offseason, the Packers hired Matt LaFleur to be their new head coach, and he is getting his first shot at being the man in charge at the NFL level. While Green Bay has done a nice job of building up the cornerback spot with talent via the draft as of late, they are still lacking at safety, making them a logical destination for Landon Collins.
During the trade deadline this past season, the Packers sent Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins, leaving a void in their secondary. Collins is a guy who could be a perfect fit in Green Bay, and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine would love the upgrade at such a premium position heading into LaFleur’s first year.
The Packers were one of a handful of NFC teams to miss out on the playoffs after making the postseason the year before. With a new regime in place entering the 2019 offseason, the Packers should be in the market on a bunch of free agents, and Collins is a guy who could step in and finally make this position group a strength.
