Atlanta Falcons free agency 2019: Top 5 targets
1. Brandon Graham DE, Philadelphia Eagles
On paper, adding a defensive end may not seem like a necessity for the Falcons. Vic Beasley is set to make almost $13 million in 2019, and Takkarist McKinley has been a promising player the past two seasons.
However, adding a defensive end like Brandon Graham would kill two birds with one stone. Well, possibly. Graham would be able to play defensive end on the opposite side of McKinley, which would let Beasley play outside linebacker again.
Beasley had the best year of his career as an edge rushing, outside linebacker in 2016. He was named to the Pro Bowl and was an All-Pro after a career-high 15.5 sacks.
Now, Graham won’t be cheap, and management would really have to determine if they want to make that financial decision. His market value is very similar to Jarrett’s, and he may require a five-year deal for about $77 million.
But Beasley is set to be an unrestricted free agent after next season and the team will have some more financial flexibility, so Graham would provide stability to the position.
Graham has played his entire nine-year career in the city of brotherly love with the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a career-year in 2017 with 9.5 sacks in 15 games.
In 2018, he had four sacks, 39 combined tackles, nine tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hits. While those numbers may not seem like much, Pro Football Focus gave him a rating of 88.1.
