Things got bleaker in Hollywood on Saturday, as the Lakers announced Brandon Ingram will be out for the rest of the season.

As if things couldn’t get any bleaker in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Lakers will now be playing without Brandon Ingram for the rest of the season.

According to ESPN’s Marc Spears, the Lakers have revealed that Ingram has a Deep Venous Thrombosis in his arm, which will require him to miss the rest of an otherwise dark season for the Lakers.

A Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms on one or more deep veins within the body. This type of blood clot usually occurs in the legs, but Ingram’s occurred on his arm. To remove the blood clot, surgery is normally required, which is why Ingram will be unavailable for the Lakers until next season, if he still is a Laker, of course.

Hopefully Ingram’s DVT doesn’t become more serious. Chris Bosh had his career cut short due to similar blood clots:

For a lot of Lakers fans, however, this news is yet another reason the Lakers should tank for the rest of the season. Who can  blame them? The Lakers are 7.5 games out of the eighth-and-final playoff spot, with no hope of catching the San Antonio Spurs to earn the right to get swept out of the first round.

There’s an obvious advantage of tanking for the rest of the season. This draft class is going to be stacked with franchise-changing players, including the big prize that every bad team is eyeing. You know who I’m talking about:

Zion Williamson and LeBron James on the same court? That will be worth the tank. Regardless, let’s all hope Ingram will recover soon from this devastating injury.
