5 mid-majors that could make a Final Four run
Wofford Terriers (29-4, No. 7 Seed)
Entering the NCAA Tournament, no team is hotter than the Southern Conference regular season and conference tournament champion Wofford Terriers. The Terriers have won 20 straight games. Led by Fletcher Magee’s 20.5 points per game, but the entire team is capable of firing from deep at a moment’s notice. They have the second-best three-point shooting percentage in the entire NCAA at 41.6 percent — which includes four players shooting better than 40 percent from behind the arc.
With Zion Williamson in Durham, Wofford is now the belle of the ball in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Wofford’s offensive firepower can take them deep into the tournament when it’s clicking, given the multitude of shooters that the team can place on the floor at the same time. It will be hard for an opposing team to gear up to stop just one of their perimeter players. The Midwest Region might be the toughest in the entire field, so the Terriers have their work cut out for them, but they have shown that they are more than capable of running off six consecutive wins.
