4. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys need help on their defensive line. Gerald McCoy is an very good defensive lineman. This marriage makes a ton of sense.

Dallas has long been about paying it’s own players and avoiding signing the big splashy free agent signings. This season seems to be changing their philosophy a tad. They’ve reached a deal with Randal Cobb to play the slot receiver role. Dallas even brought in Eric Berry for a visit. The Cowboys have also been discussed as a potential trade partner for Robert Quinn from Miami. This front office sees a winning window to capitalize on, and are taking full advantage.

Like with the Colts, McCoy is an ideal player for Dallas’ defense. As a three technique lining up inside, he could be a gap penetrator and live in opposing backfields. Dallas already has an elite player along their defensive line in DeMarcus Lawrence. Adding McCoy would give them a complimentary interior rusher who can generate pressure up the middle. These two would thrive off each other and open up the entire defensive line.

Rod Marinelli, Dallas’ heralded defensive line coach, has been able to maximize much lesser players. Getting McCoy, even if his best play is behind him, would make him light up like a Christmas tree. The Cowboys have the money. McCoy’s contract is essentially three one year deals put together as at any point he could be cut with zero cap impact. Cowboys fans should be willing this one into existence.
