Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost a bunch of key pieces to their roster this past offseason, as they traded away Paul Goldschmidt to the St. Louis Cardinals, and saw Patrick Corbin sign with the Washington Nationals in free agency. Those guys will be hard to replace, but they do have Zack Greinke atop their rotation, who is still one of the better right-handed starting pitchers in all of baseball.

The offense will be led by David Peralta, who is coming off a season that netted him 30 home runs, and 87 runs batted in. Jake Lamb will slide over to first base to replace Goldschmidt, who was one of the more punishing batters in the NL West over the past few seasons.

Best case scenario

The Diamondbacks play in a division that could be a two-headed race in 2019, as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies have more talent than they do at this point. The good news is, these teams are going to beat up on each other all season long, and the Diamondbacks could sneak into the playoffs with their second Wild Card nod in the last three seasons.

Worst case scenario

If Colorado and Los Angeles are as good as advertised, Arizona is going to struggle to win games within the division, and the San Diego Padres actually improved their roster this offseason as well. Arizona could very well find themselves at the bottom of the NL West this season, which would certainly be their worst case scenario.
