Throw all the others out, this is the best Zion Williamson comparison yet.

During an interview with FanSided’s Mark Carman, Duke basketball legend Christian Laettner made perhaps the greatest player comparison for potential No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.

We’ve seen people compare him to LeBron James and Charles Barkley, in terms of skill, but there hasn’t been a good physical comparison for Williamson that we’ve seen, at least not on the basketball court.

“If you took Bo Jackson at his prime, made him 6’7” and put him on the basketball court I think that would be what Zion is,” Laettner said. “Zion reminds me a little of Shaq within 5-6 feet inside the bucket He reminds me a little bit of LeBron in the full court situation and then he reminds me of Charles Barkley and how good he is at pursuing the ball and rebounding.”

Yes, comparing him to LeBron James and Charles Barkley is nothing new, those have been said hundreds of thousands of times already, but putting their skillset inside the body of Bo Jackson? That’s not only a terrifying thought, but is pretty close to what Williamson is.

Laettner, who in a partnership with Land O’Lakes butter invited college students to compete in the Land O’Lakes Bot Shot challenge to build the best basketball shooting robot, had nothing but praise for Williamson who he thinks will have a standout career in the NBA as long as he can stay healthy.

Of course Laettner was less than enthused to talk about Duke’s Elite Eight loss to Michigan State over the weekend, but as far as this being  the most disappointing loss in Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s career, Laettner disagrees.

“I think when he looks in the mirror he might say ‘yeah I wish we could’ve done better,’ but when you play against older teams that’s difficult to overcome,” Laettner said.
