The New York Jets have just released new uniforms which they will begin wearing in the 2019 season, and they are a symbol of a new start in New York.

After months of waiting, hype, and rumors, Jets fans have finally gotten what they’ve been waiting for, new uniforms. This is for a franchise tired of waiting, they have waited since Joe Namath for a franchise quarterback, and have waited since January 12th, 1969 to return to a Super Bowl. These new uniforms may bring with them what Jets fans have longed for.

Unfortunately, the uniforms resemble the ones leaked yesterday. The green ones look like high school jerseys and aren’t easy on the eye, but the black and white jerseys are very nice, being a little more muted. All of the uniforms can be seen here.

As you can see, they have opted for three colors, outside of the traditional Green and White. Announced at the release party today, the Jets will be wearing Gotham Green, Spotlight White, and Stealth Black. Outside of the green jersey, the black and white jerseys look very nice. All the jerseys have their primary color, joined by a stripe across the shoulder to mimic the idea of an actual jet. The new jerseys are joined by a sleek new green helmet as well, after years wearing white helmets.

For Jets fans, these jerseys usher in a new era. After two straight defensive-minded head coaches, the Jets have hired Adam Gase, an offensive guru to mastermind the offense. Lucky for him, he gets to work with Sam Darnold, who showed his promise towards the end of last year. Darnold was the highest graded quarterback in the NFL over the last three games and led the AFC East in quarterback rating on throws out of the pocket. Add in some more “dawgs” like C.J. Mosely and LeVeon Bell and the Jets could be making a playoff push this season.

Now, they will be doing so in new jerseys. These new uniforms are a reset for the Jets who can use them as a symbol of the new culture they seek this year.
