4. Josh Rosen won’t be traded

Conventional wisdom believes the Cardinals will take Murray with the first overall pick. It naturally follows that Arizona will try to deal Rosen to avoid any sort of quarterback controversy in 2019. The only problem with that plan is that every team in the NFL knows the Cardinals are desperate to get rid of Rosen.

Complicating matters even further is the fact that the Cardinals want a first round pick in exchange for their distressed asset. Simply put, they’re not going to get one. They’d be lucky to find a team willing to offer a second rounder for Rosen right now.

The scenario we’re projecting is that the Cardinals simply won’t get an offer they feel is good enough to let Rosen go. It’s more about saving face for their front office than anything else. The optics of trading last year’s No. 10 pick for a fourth or fifth rounder would be really ugly.

Keeping Rosen into the preseason is going to be a little awkward, but the Cardinals will hope he can increase his value by playing well in live action. It’s a big gamble by the team’s front office, but dealing him on Draft Day would be selling low on a talented quarterback prospect.
