32 college football players destined to be future first round NFL Draft picks
4. Justin Herbert – Quarterback, Oregon
Justin Herbert deciding to come back for his senior sent ripples through both the 2019 and 2020 draft. He would have been a first-round pick this past April, but another year will give Herbert the time he needs to become more consistent with his play.
The 6’5″, 225-pound Herbert has elite physical traits and can make some throws that’ll make you pause and rewind multiple times. Then he’ll have a performance like the one against Arizona that leaves you pausing for all the wrong reasons.
The supporting cast in Oregon did him very few favors, but Herbert will need he can show manage a high-level offense in 2019. Because if he does, teams will be racing to the bottom to pick him in the top-five.
The arm strength to fit the ball in tight windows and push it deep down the field while also having a big athletic body that can extend plays is want to want from today’s quarterback. Not sure the Oregon offense is doing him very many favors in terms of adjusting things at the line or being able to go through progressions, but there is not a single NFL team that wouldn’t bet on Herbert’s upside if they needed a quarterback in 2020.
