Harry Kane wasn’t on the pitch for Tottenham comeback against Ajax, but will he be back in time for the Champions League final?

England striker Harry Kane watched from the stands as Tottenham Hotspur pulled off one of the most sensational comebacks in Champions League history. He was also down in the dressing room at halftime to help inspire his club to make a comeback.

Kane has been sidelined with an ankle injury he sustained during the Champions League quarterfinal match against Manchester City on April 6.

Kane could be seen jumping up and down after Lucas Moura netted a goal at the 96-minute mark. After the final whistle blew, Kane sprinted across the pitch with ease to join his team and his ankle looked in good form.

From a spectator’s point of view, it seemed he was well on his way to full recovery. Fans were already declaring he would be ready to play.

The lateral ligament injury he suffered was significant, and there was no time table put on his return. Harry Kane ran in a straight line, and he was quick to point out that he begins straight line running drills this week.

His last ankle injury put him out for 6 weeks, but when reporters asked Harry Kane after the match about his rehabilitation and if there was a chance he could return for the final he responded “so far so good, so if it carries on as it should I would hope to be (ready).”

He also laughed and said that he would have to “prove himself” because of the play of Lucas Moura if he wanted to earn back his starting spot.

According to the Daily Mail, the Tottenham co-captain has been out of his walking boot and was given the go-ahead to do all he can return to playing shape.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was clearly not impressed with the media’s questions regarding Kane’s return. He simply replied “Caio” to their questions and muttered “Today you are going to ask me” which was in response to the fact that he clearly just wanted to get back to celebrating with the team.

There is no guarantee either way, but there is a guarantee that he will do all he can to be there for his team.

Hopefully, Kane will be ready for the match in Madrid when Tottenham face off against Liverpool in the Champions League final on June 1, which is sure to be a spectacular fixture. With Kane running like was playing in the World Cup, the media will be buzzing with the idea of him returning in three and a half weeks.
