A look ahead at the May 15, 2019 edition of NXT UK, emanating from Braehead Arena in Glasgow.

Right now, there are two big matches on the horizon for NXT UK. One is the much-anticipated rematch between WALTER and Pete Dunne for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, set for next week. The other, while still a few weeks away, will be directly impacted by the results of two matches on this May 15 show.

Three weeks from now, there will be a fatal four-way where the winner will become the No.1 Contender to the UK title. To determine who will make up the match’s four competitors, NXT UK is holding a series of qualifying matches. Joe Coffey already punched his ticket last week, easily dispatching of Flash Morgan Webster. This week, we find out two more entrants into the four-way, as Jordan Devlin battles Ligero, and Wolfgang faces off with Dave Mastiff.

Devlin defeated Ligero in a main event match back in November, but the two have not really crossed paths on NXT UK TV as of late. Compared with its counterpart, this match has significantly less momentum behind it. But, the match should still deliver. Despite falling to WALTER in a non-title match a couple of weeks ago, Devlin is still very much on the rise on this brand, looking to prove he’s deserving of referring to himself as an “Ace.”

Ligero is, while not lost in the shuffle, perhaps viewed as being a tier below the likes of Devlin or Coffey. Though, he’s actually got a match with Tony Nese on this week’s 205 Live, so what do we know? A chance to knock off the Cruiserweight Champion and a chance to have a chance to challenge for the United Kingdom Champion in the same week? Things may truly be coming up Ligero.

Wolfgang and Dave Mastiff are two big dogs about to get into a confrontation at the park. This trouble all started a few weeks ago when, after eating Kona Reeves for lunch, Mastiff returned backstage to some congratulations from various colleagues. One person not impressed at all however, was Wolfgang, who proceeded to instigate a shoving match and yell “Strongman!?” a bunch at Mastiff. For his part, Mastiff said he would have Wolfgang for dinner.

Last week — during the Gallus hometown boys promo — Wolfgang began to call out Mastiff, but quickly descended into yelling incoherently before having to be physically restrained by his stablemates. Very doglike. Backstage, Mastiff remained as calm as one can while asserting he would give Wolfgang “the battering of a lifetime.” Hopefully, this one isn’t all bark and has some real bite to it. It’s two large dog-men trying to assert their dominance as the alpha.

We can also expect the NXT UK debut of Ilja Dragunov who, in describing himself on Twitter, says “I’m not intense, I am Intensity.” The photos WWE has been choosing to promote him are … certainly choices, but by all accounts and based on the vignettes they’ve been using, he looks legit.

There will probably be some more build to the WALTER-Dunne rematch as well, seeing as it will be the sequel to the greatest NXT UK match to-date. But, we’ll have to wait and see what form that takes when NXT UK airs tonight.
