The St. Louis Blues closed out the San Jose Sharks at home in game 6. They now move on to face the Boston Bruins in a 1970 Stanley Cup Final rematch.

The St. Louis Blues took a two-goal lead early in the first period on with goals from David Perron and Vladimir Tarasenko and that was all they needed to get to the Stanley Cup Final.

Brayden Schenn and Tyler Bozak put the game away for good in the third when they scored the third and fourth goals in the 5-1 win. Ivan Barbashev added an empty netter to close this one. “Gloria” blared through the Enterprise Center’s PA system as the Blues thanked a fired up crowd.

Blues fans obviously took to their new tradition and sang along with the team.

Yeah. It’s going to be a fun night in St. Louis.

The Blues are heading back to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 49 years. They’ll face the same team they played in the 1970 Cup Final, the Boston Bruins. The storyline won’t be hard to write for this one – expect to see Bobby Orr’s famous goal celebration about a thousand times this week.

The Blues and Bruins match up well. Both teams are deep, defensively strong and very physical. Tuukka Rask has been the only goaltender better than Jordan Binnington so far in these playoffs. Don’t expect many high scores in this series but if you are a fan of old-time hockey, you’re going to love these games.

Both teams will get a week-long break before the Stanley Cup Final begins. The schedule was set earlier this week and the Blues and Bruins are set to begin what will be a hard-fought Cup final on Monday, May 27th at 8:00 p.m. ET. Here is the rest of the schedule:

Congratulations to the St. Louis Blues on making it back to the Stanley Cup Final. Enjoy this feeling while it lasts. Boston is well rested and ready to go, having not played since May 16th. The Blues and Bruins are going to put on a show and we’re all here for it.

Tonight, though, is about the Blues. It’s been a long 49 years for the franchise who more than deserve to be back in the Cup Final, especially how bad their season was going into January of this year. The incredible story continues as the power of “Gloria” compelled this team to the most important victory since making it to the 1970 Final.

Enjoy it, St. Louis. You earned it!
