3. Connor Brown

Age: 25
Position: RW

It will come as no surprise to Maple Leafs fans that Connor Brown continues to be one of the most talked about candidates for movability in the NHL. Already the subject of a botched deal between the Buds and the Edmonton Oilers — in which the 25-year-old was speculated to be on the move for D Matt Benning — the prospect of Brown as a feature of trade bait persists, as the organization shall have to shed some of its cap space during the course of the offseason.

Indeed, all signs indicate that Brown should be one of the more sound acquisitions for clubs aiming to add a depth forward who can play offensively aware, defensively responsible hockey on a relatively consistent basis. Despite tallying just eight goals, 21 assists and 29 points in 82 games throughout the 2018-19 campaign, Brown’s best selling feature is that of a quality of promise, as he netted an impressive 20 goals just a few seasons ago.

The fact he has played the role of a versatile forward — locking occasional stints on the power play while serving as a key component of Babcock’s penalty kill — all but ensures that Dubas will be left to field numerous calls until a decision regarding the future of No. 28 is made.

Look for Brown’s name to occupy headlines over the up and coming weeks, as the Maple Leafs aim to evaluate his $2.1 million contract in conjunction with the franchise’s desire to open up cap room.
