Dave Bautista could be the next Sith Lord in rumored Darth Bane series

There is a rumor spreading that Lucasfilm is targeting Dave Bautista to play the role of Sith Lord Darth Bane in a future Star Wars series.

Everyone who has ever played a Sith in Star Wars has left a tremendous mark on the franchise.

More than perhaps any other franchise, the villains in Star Wars are beloved by fans. Perhaps it’s because the writers of the movies and shows have done a great job of getting us to fall in love with the character’s overall story, or perhaps it’s just that Star Wars has become a great competition for the title of most powerful.

Whatever the case, Star Wars fans seem fairly thrilled about the idea of a rumored show featuring Darth Bane as a main character. Dave Bautista is also being pegged as the actor Lucasfilm wants to play the role.

Dave seems up for it.

Darth Bane is an ancient Sith Lord who created the “rule of two” which mandates that Sith have only a master and apprentice, where the Jedi had an entire legion of masters, generals, apprentices, etc.

In Star Wars legend, Darth Bane is the lone survivor of the battle between the Jedi and the Sith, which happened approximately 1,000 years before the Clone Wars.

Bane decided in hindsight that it was too much internal conflict that caused the eventual demise of the Sith, so he implemented the rule of two.

Though certainly menacing and diabolical, Bane was also extremely patient. He never even saw his plan to destroy the Jedi come to fruition, but it was his vision that Darth Maul spoke of in The Phantom Menace when he said, “At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last, we will have revenge.”

Bane’s plan to bring the Sith back into prominence was so good that for many, many years, the Jedi were not even aware that the Sith had returned to practice.

Bane has already made an appearance in Star Wars canon. Yoda encountered him in an ancient Sith temple as a specter.

If Bane is the focus of a series, it would unquestionably be one of the most highly anticipated series in recent Star Wars memory.
