DraftKings MLB Early Plays:

Zach Plesac is far and away the ace of the early DraftKings MLB slate. Camden Yards turns to Coors Field east in the summer, and that’s what it did for Plesac in his last start. The Royals may get a couple of runs here and there but I would expect Plesac to be near 20 DraftKings points.

Anibal Sanchez has decent enough numbers against the Marlins. The 12.6 DraftKings points he picked up the first time around isn’t enough for the price. I think I would rather use Elieser Hernandez if using a pitcher from this game. Hernandez has gone at least five innings and given up three runs or less in his last four starts. His stuff isn’t going to wow you, but that $6,700 price tag is enticing.

Homer Bailey is the wild card here. He pitched seven shutout innings allowing just two hits earlier this year against Cleveland. However, Cleveland was missing a lot of key pieces then. Still, the Indians are hitting just .204 in 54 at bats against Bailey.

To me, pitching isn’t all that important today. Both places have nice hitting weather. For that reason, I almost prefer the ground ball tendencies of Sanchez and Homer Bailey over Plesac and Hernandez, who both induce more fly balls.

If building this from the bats up, Kevin Plawecki should get the start today, and has slugged two homers against Homer already. Jose Ramirez is another favorite bat from that game regardless of if I play Bailey or not.

Anthony Rendon is the only current Nationals player to homer off of Elieser Hernandez. All of my Nats targets are the expensive ones. I think Hernandez turns in a solid start here, so I’m not tripping over myself to stack this. I do want Soto and Trea Turner though against more fly ball pitching tendencies.

Putting Sanchez and Bailey with Plawecki and our three man Nats stack leaves us with a little more than $3,800 to fill the last four slots. That’s not much. Going cheap on Lucas Duda at first gets us back to $4k for second base and two outfielders. That’s a reasonable amount since Merrifield is the next highest priced player left. You can play Whit at either position and choose your punts.
