2019 All-Star Game starting lineups: Verlander, Ryu named starting pitchers
Justin Verlander and Hyun-Jin Ryu are named the starting pitchers for the 2019 All-Star Game. Here is the lineup for the A.L. and N.L. for Tuesday’s game.
You already knew who was starting in the All-Star Game after the fan vote results were announced, but now we know the batting order and starting pitchers.
Justin Verlander, 36, is the oldest starting pitcher since 41-year-old Kenny Rodgers started the 2006 midsummer classic. The Astros ace will be opposed by Hyun-Jin Ryu who is enjoying a career season for the Dodgers.
They won’t bat in this game as it’s played in the home of the Indians where the designated hitter is used, but the batting orders are out for the nine who will step in the batter’s box.

Expect all of these All-Star Game starters to get at least two at-bats before they’re lifted for the reserves to get their time on the field and up to bat. That’s All-Star Game custom, but certain players like Mike Trout and the catchers could stick in a little bit longer.
It’s nice that Carlos Santana gets the honor of batting clean up for the A.L. squad since he’s the hometown hero as the lone Indians player in the starting lineup. Expect him to have the loudest ovation during the player introductions, which is easily one of the cooler parts of the game.
The 2019 All-Star Game will be televised on FOX on Tuesday, July 9 at 8 p.m. ET with pregame coverage beginning one hour earlier.
