Geje Eustaquio proud to represent the Philippines alongside Team Lakay brothers

Geje Eustaquio proud to represent the Philippines alongside Team Lakay brothers at ONE: Dawn of Heroes.

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio will compete for the third time this year when he faces Japan’s Yuya Wakamatsu on August 2 at ONE: Dawn of Heroes in a ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix alternate bout.

Eustaquio is set to perform once again at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila alongside Eduard Folayang, Danny Kingad, Honorio Banario, and Edward Kelly. It will be the first time that five Filipino athletes from the same gym will compete on the same card.

“I am excited to perform alongside my brothers,” Eustaquio said. “We have been preparing for this event non-stop and it is the first time that the majority of us are participating in one event. We all want to win our matches to bring pride to our gym and our fans.”

Eustaquio, a Baguio City native, takes pride in competing in mixed martial arts and representing the Philippines every time he steps into the ONE ring. Knowing he has the support of his countrymen in his matches further motivates him to perform well.

“I am proud to be born and called a Filipino,” Eustaquio said. “I feel really blessed to find success in the sport I am very passionate about with the love and support from my fellow Filipinos and fans. Representing my country in this match is really special and it pushes me to give my best every time.”

Eustaquio and the rest of Team Lakay are preparing for one of the most epic nights in their careers. They aim to win their own matches through the strength of their bond and make their countrymen proud.

“What makes us special is the brotherhood and family we have become,” Eustaquio said. “Almost all of us at Team Lakay have spent half our lives with each other and the bond we have forged through success and failures is what makes us strong. Plus living in Baguio City where the scenery is breathtaking is a huge bonus, it makes me feel closer to my God.”
