4. Kellen Moore’s new offense

No one knows exactly what Moore has planned for the Cowboys offense this season, but chances are it will be superior to what Scott Linehan gave the team previously. Specifically, fans in Dallas hope they’ll see a more innovative attack in 2019.

Keeping the opposition off-balance should allow the offense to find lots more open space. The Cowboys were easy for opposing defensive coordinators to plan for last season. More often than not the group’s offensive talent managed to be productive in spite of their schematic shortcomings. That’s not a feat Dallas wants to be forced to repeat.

It should be relatively simple for Moore to make this offense look more progressive. For starters, he should get Prescott on the move more often. Despite being one of the league’s best throwers on the run, he was largely hemmed into the pocket in 2018. The Cowboys don’t want to expose him to a ton of extra hits this season, but a healthy amount of play action and bootlegs should be in order for Prescott.

The team will also look to diversify their play calling on first down. Running Ezekiel Elliott to soften up the defense is fine on occasion, but Dallas doesn’t need to start every series by running the football. If Moore can take this offense into the world of modern-day football, it should pay big time dividends in Big D.
