EPL DFS – Top-Tier Forwards/Midfielders

Pedro (Leicester @ Chelsea, $20) – I never thought I would see myself writing up Pedro as the most expensive player on a slate, but here we are.  Chelsea suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss to Manchester United last week, but Pedro had a productive fantasy game.  With the likes of Hazard, Willian, and Higuain off the field or off the team, Pedro took over as the clear leader of Chelsea’s attack last Sunday.  He’ll have the ball at his feet more this season compared to in the past evidenced by the 5 chances he created last game.  He’s always able to pick up some defensive peripherals to help his scoring as well.  This should be a better matchup for Chelsea at home against Leicester, so think Pedro can turn one of those chances into a goal either for himself or for a teammate.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester @ Chelsea, $20) – It could be tough for me to fade Vardy on this small slate.  We all know Vardy has a knack for scoring against the Big 6, 31 goals in 55 games.  If you find a breakdown of the goals, you’ll see that out of those 6 opponents he’s scored the least (4) against Chelsea.  Regardless, Vardy has Leicester’s best odds at being an anytime goalscorer, and with Chelsea giving up 4 last game, he’ll be a popular target.  James Maddison ($16) had a rough season opener, he should be in for a bounce-back game on Sunday.

Mason Mount (Leicester @ Chelsea, $16) – Mason Mount was so good last week he doubled his price to $16 up from $8 last week.  I can’t say I’ve ever seen that.  The young midfielder was a bright spot in an otherwise crummy game for Chelsea.  He created 4 chances and put 2 shots on goal, while getting several defensive stats.  Mount had another impressive game in Chelsea’s midweek loss on PKs to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup.  I do not love paying this much for Mount, but remember you’re getting a good attacker on the largest favorited team on a small slate.
