EPL DFS – Top-Tier Defenders

Emerson (Leicester @ Chelsea, $16) – Paying up for a high-priced defender probably won’t be popular on Sunday, so Emerson is a good low-owned option in this game stack.  Emerson was super productive fantasy-wise last week with 3 shots on goal among other peripheral stats.  That’s more than most forwards.  Emerson is an attacking defender on the slate’s largest favorite making him a fair target.

More from DFS

I expect another good game from him.  Kurt Zouma ($10) had a difficult go of it last weekend, but I like taking advantage of his low price tag on this slate.  Defender value is limited, but it’s almost a lock that Zouma scores better this week.  He normally collects defensive peripherals well, so I’m going to assume last week was an outlier.  He also carries some attacking upside with his ability to score off free kicks and corner kicks.

Martin Kelly (Crystal Palace @ Sheffield United, $14) – This is a little bit of a steep price to pay for Kelly, but he’s a solid filler from the early game.  Kelly made 9 clearances last week, and I think he can repeat that in this away matchup.  If he can add in a few more peripherals than he did last week, he could be looking at a 20+ point game.  A clean sheet bonus is not out of the picture here either.  The value defenders on this slate are so limited that it doesn’t even make sense to make it a separate section on this slate.  Patrick van Aanholt ($12) is your best bet.

John Egan (Crystal Palace @ Sheffield United, $14) – On the other end of the field, Egan is also a fair filler from the early game.  Last week, he got enough defensive peripherals to put up 15.6 fantasy points.  That performance is definitely repeatable this week, and like Kelly, a clean sheet bonus is a possibility.

EPL DFS – Goalkeepers

Kepa Arrizabalaga (Leicester @ Chelsea, $14) – I am not in love with any of the GKs on this slate, but I know that Kepa has the best odds at the win bonus.  Although he gave up 4 goal last week, I think a clean sheet is an actual possibility as well.  Kepa should make a few saves as well, giving him a solid floor with good upside.

Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace @ Sheffield United, $10) – If you remember the Vegas odds on this slate, you’ll realize that Sheffield United is favored in this game making Henderson the 2nd most likely GK (behind Kepa) to get a win bonus.  I’m a little scared of how many away goals Palace scored last season, but hopefully, that leads to some save points.  Henderson is an intriguing cheap GK option with great upside.
