Alabama Crimson Tide star linebacker Dylan Moses will miss the season with a knee injury, which is a huge blow for Bama.

Just days before the college football season kicks off, the Alabama Crimson Tide got some terrible news. Star junior linebacker Dylan Moses will miss the season with a torn ACL.

Per multiple reports, Moses suffered a severe injury in Tuesday’s practice, which is now being confirmed as a torn ACL. Alabama head coach Nick Saban later confirmed the news of Moses’ injury and that he’ll be out indefinitely.

Moses was a preseason All-American selection and was primed to take over as the leader at linebacker after Mack Wilson was drafted in April. He had 86 total tackles, 10 for a loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2018, and was ready to enjoy a big boost in production in 2019.

Losing Moses’s experience isn’t good for the Crimson Tide, who are now extremely young at the position. Right now, freshman Christian Harris was slated to start next to Moses. If the current depth chart holds true, freshman Shane Lee will take the places of Moses and start against Duke Saturday. It probably won’t matter for their early-season games, but once Alabama gets into conference play, the absence of Moses will be noticed. The injury is devastating enough to drop Alabama from preseason co-favorite to win the title.

Moses will now have a decision to make at season’s end. As a draft-eligible junior, he could forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft, preventing the possibility of an injury in his senior season. He is a highly-touted prospect at the moment, showing up in the top 10-20 of many preseason big boards and the top inside linebacker.

Whatever Moses decides, hopefully, he will make a full recovery and be healthy enough for next season, whether that be in the NFL or for his senior season at Alabama.
