Villarreal vs. Real Madrid live stream: Watch La Liga online
By Warren Pegg
Villarreal face Real Madrid at El Madrigal on Sunday, Sept. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Since last summer, Real Madrid have changed their head coach three times and spent hundreds of millions of dollars on new players, but the problems Zinedine Zidane’s side encountered against lowly Valladolid last Saturday were horribly familiar.
It was yet another disappointing home result against a club with limited financial resources in which Madrid looked considerably less than the sum of their expensive parts.
For all the money lavished on new arrivals, 31-year-old Karim Benzema still seemed Madrid’s biggest goal threat by far. Gareth Bale was again selected from the start and, with James Rodriguez also in the XI, Madrid began the game with two players they’ve spent the entire summer trying to sell.
It all feels like a bit of a mess, although Eden Hazard’s return from injury is expected to improve matters.
Villarreal also had a rotten time last season, which they spent most of engaged in an unexpected relegation battle before eventually finishing 14th. Star performer Pablo Fornals has since joined West Ham in a £25 million deal, but the exquisitely talented veteran Santi Cazorla is still at the club.

There was little improvement in Madrid’s displays after Zidane’s return last season. Further mediocre performances in the coming weeks will surely see the pressure on him mount.
