The main event of the first AEW on TNT will feature The Elite against Chris Jericho and two mystery partners.

On the premiere episode of AEW on TNT, The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) will take on AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and two mystery partners. As days tick closer to the event, we examine five possible candidates to fill the mystery partner role.

5. Contra Unit

Contra Unit have laid waste to the roster of Major League Wrestling and in the process, Jacob Fatu captured their World Heavyweight Championship. Though this alliance seems unlikely, Rikishi’s Twitter page has made hints of the Samoan Werewolf moving to either WWE or AEW in 2020. Plus, there’s already a sharing of talents between MLW and AEW with MJF and Tony Schiavone.

4. Cryme Time

The former WWE team of Shad Gaspard and JTG haven’t been seen on major television for a long time, but the duo has made a handful of independent appearances over the years. During the height of the AEW championship title disappearance, JTG tweeted a photoshopped meme of the team holding the belt and demanding a match with the Young Bucks. The post was largely written as a joke, but the idea of Cryme Time wanting to work in AEW’s tag team division isn’t crazy. It’s highly unlikely, but an interesting prospect.

3. Marty Scurll and ???

The former Elite member Marty Scurll, who had a standout match with Okada at All In, reportedly has a contract that is set to expire with Ring of Honor. Rumors of Scurll to AEW have swirled since the company’ s debut. What better way for The Villain to debut with the company than to face his former allies?

2. The Dark Order

To say the AEW faithful have not taken to the former Super Smash Brothers would be an understatement. The Dark Order’s feud with the Best Friends hasn’t gotten over with fans, despite their talent. Aligning themselves with Jericho and attacking the Bucks could make the Order major players heading into the tag team championship tournament. Plus, Jericho disguised himself as one of the Order’s minions to attack Hangman Page at Fyter Fest.

1. LAX/The Boricuas

The most likely culprits to be Jericho’s mystery partners are the former IMPACT champions who debuted at All Out. Dressed like the villains from the classic action film Point Break, Santana and Ortiz attacked both the Young Bucks and the Lucha Brothers after their incredible ladder match. The team formerly known as LAX will become a major force in AEW whether or not they’re Jericho’s mystery team.
