PGA course breakdown and preview: Sanderson Farms Championship

If you are looking for an outlet for stats to begin your research, the PGA Tour’s website is your friend as it is always full of raw data if you search hard enough. I’ve also mentioned Fantasy National (FantasyNational.com) which is a brilliant tool to help you look at statistics per player in a very organized manner.

Since we have many golfers in the field coming in as rookies from the Korn Ferry Tour, you will find the data you need as of now simply on the KFT website. It’s going to be interesting to see how these rookies make a name for themselves as the season moves forward and we learn more about what types of courses they succeed on, but for this week, I am targeting the longer hitters, and because of this I have prioritized my research to narrow my player pools based on this in order gathered from the last 24 rounds :

  1. Strokes Gained OFF THE TEE & Fairways Gained
  2. Driving Accuracy and Average Distance
  3. Strokes Gained Approach
  4. Par 5 efficiency 550-600
  5. Par 4 efficiency 400-450
  6. Strokes Gained Proximity 150-175 and 200+
  7. BoB Gained
  8. Strokes Gained Putting 15-25ft (Remember these are large sloping greens, errant shots can still find the putting surface)

If you need any help or advice, you can find me on twitter @3Putts4Par, I am always up for a good golf conversation! I hope you found this helpful and sets you on your way to building a solid lineup that will get you into the winner’s circle. Look out for more PGA content from the rest of the team in the coming few days. Cheers and Good Luck!
