How can someone bet on “entertainment”? Can you even gamble on TV and movies to begin with? Of course you can.

When we think of betting, we normally think of it in the sports frame of mind. We don’t think of betting when it comes to entertainment and pop culture. Why would we do that?

Entertainment is what it is, to entertain us. Whether it’s through movies, music, or television, we watch these mediums to provide us with an escape from the doldrums of reality, not to make money off of it. However, what if I told you that you actually could bet on entertainment and pop culture?

Yep, you can.

Now granted, entertainment betting isn’t like betting on sports. If you would have asked someone about betting on entertainment at the dawn of the millennium, you would have probably gotten a lot of confused stares. Now, it is becoming one of the fastest-growing areas to place those bets.

So now that you know entertainment betting is an actual thing, the next obvious question is how do you do it? Well, you place your bets on things like pop culture and celebrity gossip, just two of the myriad of things that you could run odds on when it comes to entertainment.

Award shows are big, and probably the best known entertainment bet, but reality TV is a growing field as well, where you can bet on expected outcomes more surely than on scripted shows. Think who gets a rose on The Bachelor, or the weekly eliminations on Dancing With the Stars. Enterprising gamblers can find opportunity (and odds) anywhere in entertainment, with things like Marvel movie death odds or Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
