DraftKings NBA Centers:

Best Bets:

Towns was an absolute monster in the opener, but that should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, it was against Brooklyn. Charlotte was one of the weaker teams up front last year as well and they did very little to rectify the situation. Towns gets one more night of looking like a MVP candidate and could be the best raw play on the entire slate.

I do like Anthony Davis here even against Utah, but I think Jokic against an Ayton-less Phoenix looks like a better play. That game is not a certain blowout at this point. Jokic started slowly in the opener, but they were just saving him for a monster fourth quarter. That could happen again.

Honorable Mention:

The jury was divided on what Julius Randle’s impact would be for the Knicks. Well, it looks like he’s priced fairly. Randle put up some pretty big numbers for $8,100. We saw Towns just obliterate the Nets up front in the opener. The potential is here for a big game from Randle.

Hassan Whiteside put up huge numbers in his Portland debut. The Blazers may not treat him with kid gloves like Miami did. Whiteside did 43.25 DraftKings points of damage in just 26 minutes. For $7,000, I’ll take it.

PJ Washington had the best debut of any rookie, but part of it was boosted by the fact that he was playing the Bulls. Minnesota is going to provide a little more resistance. Towns put a ton of effort into being a better defender and it shows. Still, Washington is the only scorer the Hornets have up front. He’s going to be great again for the price.

Dark Horses:

The lower tier of center is loaded with value thanks to the suspension of Ayton and the injury to Kanter. Robert Williams was more productive than Theis in the opener. Aron Baynes didn’t do much for Phoenix, but the Suns likely wont go small against Portland. He should start, but Frank the Tank put up more than a DraftKings point per minute in the opener. He’s probably the better option.

Nicolo Melli was a bargain darling in the opener, and his price didn’t rise enough to move most of us off of him. That said, Hart and maybe even Tyus Jones have more upside for about the same price.

My pick: Towns(C)
