The College Football Playoff field is set with LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma left to compete for the national championship.

There wasn’t much left in the way of suspense and drama when the College Football Playoff rankings were revealed on Sunday. We knew the four teams would be in some order: LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma. After Utah lost on Friday night to Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game and Georgia couldn’t upset LSU, that left the winner of the Big 12, which was Oklahoma who outlasted Baylor in overtime.

With LSU handling Georgia with relative ease for four quarters and Ohio State only man-handling Wisconsin for the second half, the committee decided to rank LSU as the top team with Ohio State, Clemson and Oklahoma rounding out the top four.

There wasn’t even any drama in the Group of 5 to determine who would be the highest-ranked team and get the automatic bid for the New Year’s Six bowl, which is the Cotton Bowl this year.

With Memphis beating Cincinnati to win the American, they kept their advantage over Boise State who also won their conference, beating Hawaii to take home another Mountain West crown.

A drama-free ranking is totally uncharacteristic for college football, which is all about the drama and complaining about the rankings, but consider this an early Christmas present from the college football gods. Below you can see the complete Top 25 rankings from the College Football Playoff committee.
