Sony has finally dropped the teaser trailer to the Spider-Man spinoff film Morbius, and here are the five most important takeaways you need to know.

We’ve been waiting for a long time, and now we get the chance to take a glimpse at Morbius, the Spider-Man spinoff that promises to rain in the money at the box office.

After watching the trailer (and getting super amped at what’s to come), we’ve put together the five most important moments that you need to know from the teaser, and trust me, these five takeaways will be a great help to those especially unknown of the legend of Morbius.

Watch the trailer for yourself, and then read on to see the most important details and moments from our first look at the movie.

1. It started as a cure to a disease

It wasn’t like Morbius just decided to wake up one day and become a supervillain overnight. No, the reason why Morbius morphed into who he is today was thanks to finding a cure for a disease he had. As the old saying goes, the cure is far more dangerous than the disease itself, and that saying manifests itself the Morbius trailer.

2. Spider-Man makes a cameo

Did you catch it? Finally, we get a chance to see the web-slinger in one of Sony’s spinoffs. Art of Spider-Man with the words “murderer” spraypainted over him appeared in a shot while Morbius was walking down an alley. Back in 2018, Venom unfortunately didn’t relate back to Spider-Man or the MCU at all. So now, finally it seems like Sony’s world will be slightly more connected to the MCU. (Did Morbius experience the snap?)

3. Morbius’ rise to evil isn’t swift

While we will eventually see Morbius go “full Morbius” in the film, the teaser gave us a hint that his dissent into villainous madness will be more of a slow-burner than a fast-cooking one. All in all, it’s an origin story. So, we’ll have to sit through some of the backstory before we can get to the action and see Morbius as the ghastly living vampire that he is.

4. Morbius will ask questions about human meddling in evolution

To ping-pong off of the fifth takeaway, Morbius has the potential to not just entertain us in the same Marvel-badassery that we have come to know and (mostly) love, but this film, if done right, will also force us to examine an interesting question — is human meddling in evolution worth the trouble?

5. Adrian Toomes will play a sizable role in Morbius

At the end of the trailer, we got a very interesting nugget thrown our way. Adrian Toomes — aka Vulture — should play a sizable role in shaping Morbius into the villain that we all know today. Well, we all hope, anyway. With Vulture and Morbius teaming up, what could this mean for poor Spider-Man?
