The red carpet looks at the Grammys were the inspiration for a viral tweet that compared celebrities to Batman villains. Who else could make the cut with their red carpet looks?
On any red carpet, there’s no shortage of celebrities who absolutely flaunt it when it comes to showing off one heck of a look. And musicians really have a flair for razzling and dazzling on the red carpet, especially when it comes to over-the-top, absolutely fabulous outfits. So much so that during this year’s Grammys, their looks were compared to being Batman villains in a tweet that went viral.
Batman villains — at least on screen — have had their own flair for the spectacular. And that’s starting with the ever-so-campy Batman series from the ’60s. The ’90s films carried on that legacy of campy villains, with the likes of the Riddler and Poison Ivy. And while the Nolan films have taken a more serious approach to villains, it’s time to return Batman villains back to their original glory.
Even if Matt Reeves’ The Batman has just started filming, we’ve got some villain suggests he can save for later. Here are eight celebrities who could totally be Batman villains based on their red carpet looks.
Villain name: Anti
Rihanna has the power to look absolutely majestic and absolutely sinister at the same time. That she can use to her advantage as new Batman villain Anti. Beware, you best not owe her any money, or she’ll gladly make you suffer.
Villain name: Sasha Fierce
If looks! Could! Kill! Beyoncé’s already got an alter ego, and Sasha Fierce would be immediately accepted in the DC family. In the dark of the night, you can find Ms. Fierce outside your home, swinging a baseball bat and aiming it right at your car.
Villain name: Oculus RIP
You know how Bane is the villain that wears the face mask? Well, Bad Bunny is the villain that wears the visor, and his name is Oculus RIP (pronounced “rip”). To Batman’s delight, Oculus can barely see out of those things, so he’s pretty easy to fight.
Villain name: Raviiin
Gwendoline Christie’s had her shot at being a villain in Star Wars, so this should be nothing new. Dressed in a raven-colored ball gown, Raviiin (yes, “Raven” but with three I’s *wink*), always has a look on her face that says, “I’ve been expecting you, Batman.”
Villain name: Charlie Quinn
If DC ever wanted to create a sibling for Harley Quinn, look no further than Darren Criss. Catch the dynamic Charlie and Harley duo always causing mayhem in Gotham but always getting into petty feuds about how to do it. Their long squabbles usually distract them and make them an easy target for Batman.
Villain name: Red Siren
Not every villain wears their name on their outfit, but Lizzo’s Red Siren likes to flaunt it. Her signature move? Like the Pied Piper, her deadly flute can conjure up your worst nightmares (probably rats) to use them against you.
Villain name: Two-Heads
You’ve heard of Two-Face. Now get ready for Two-Heads. Sure, Jared Leto technically was a Batman villain when he played the Joker… but after being eclipsed by every other Joker actor, we can give him another shot.
Villain name: Miss Call
Check your phone log. Have a missed call from Miss Call? Consider yourself in trouble. Lady Gaga’s already wild about telephones, and as Miss Call, she won’t stop callin’ ’til your line has been disconnected.
