2020 NFL mock draft: Detroit Lions select Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Las Vegas Raiders have two first-round picks in the draft, and in this mock draft, they address the two biggest needs on their roster. The first need is wide receiver, where they will take CeeDee Lamb with the No. 12 overall pick, selecting the playmaking wideout out of the University of Oklahoma.
Later in the first round, with the pick they got courtesy of the Khalil Mack trade two years ago, the team will select Lamb’s college teammate, linebacker Kenneth Murray. Murray is the kind of linebacker this franchise has been missing for sometime now, as he is not only a sure tackler, but someone who can move laterally and make plays all over the field.
This is going to be an interesting draft for the Raiders, as the rumors are already swirling that the team will move on from Derek Carr and possibly select a quarterback. However, they seems highly unlikely, and my guess is they bring in talent around him, especially after a solid season in Year 2 under Jon Gruden in 2019.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will hold two first-round picks in the draft, this after trading away star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 season. With their first of two first rounders, the Jaguars bolstered their defensive line with Derrick Brown in this mock draft, and later in round one, they add a playmaker to the offensive side of the ball.
No matter whether Nick Foles or Gardner Minshew are under center next season, the fact is, this team needs help at the wide receiver position. One player who is garnering a ton of first round buzz is Laviska Shenault Jr., a dynamic playmaker from Colorado who can make plays happen in the passing and return game.
Truth be told, the Jaguars were a major disappointment last season, but they have enough talent on both sides of the ball to challenge in the AFC South as soon as next season. Doug Marrone was able to save his job heading into 2020, but they will have to hit it good on these two first rounders if he is going to remain there in the long term.
