2020 NFL mock draft: Detroit Lions select Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Seattle Seahawks were a pleasant surprise during the 2019 NFL season, as I did not believe they had enough talent on both sides of the ball to make a real run in the NFC. However, any team with head coach Pete Carroll and starting quarterback Russell Wilson are going to win more than they lose, and they finished out the year by making it all the way to the Divisional Round.
Heading into next season, the Seahawks have some work to do in terms of their roster, and that includes getting better in the defensive backfield. One area they could upgrade in a big way is at the safety spot, as they select Xavier McKinney No. 27 here, a guy who many believe could be the best pure safety in this draft class.
Wilson showed once again in 2019 that there is a lot left in the tank, and you can believe this team is going to make the moves necessary to be a player in the NFC once again in 2020. McKinney is a good start late in the first round this April, and if they can add some offensive line help, as well as getting Wilson a few more weapons on offense, they should challenge again next season.
The Baltimore Ravens were the most dominant team in the AFC this past regular season, as quarterback Lamar Jackson played at an MVP level all season long. Their solid regular season landed them the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC Playoffs, though their magic run would end in a stunning loss at home in the Divisional Round.
With the team set at quarterback, and possessing incredible talent on both sides of the ball, it will be interesting to see what they do with pick No. 28 in the draft. If they were wise, they would continue to get better along the defensive line, bringing in a talented edge rusher named K’Lavon Chaisson from LSU.
Chaisson is an absolute menace coming off the edge, and despite how well the Ravens defense played last season, they need more players who can do just that. The Ravens are not going anywhere, as Jackson is still finding himself as a quarterback at the NFL level, so they just need to keep stacking talent on both sides of the ball.
