Jim Carrey is an icon and one of the greatest comedic actors of all time. The man has created some genuinely compelling content that either tugs at your heartstrings or makes you roll on the floor laughing. But his hit series Kidding on Showtime is much different than anything the esteemed actor has ever done.

Kidding is neither a flat-out comedy nor is it a hardcore drama piece — instead, it’s an awkward yet satisfying, cringe-worthy yet addictive, beautiful balance of the two genres. The unique series looks at issues like love, identity, loss and the difficulty of moving on.

Carrey’s performance as Jeff Piccirillo, a host of a kids television show known as Mr. Pickles, is a superb triumph. The fictional PBS program in the series, very similar to that of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, allows his character to reach children all over the world, bringing them happiness and a ton of laughs. On the outside, the guy seems like he has it all under control, but after some severe changes with his family, he slowly starts to go crazy inside.

Last season was one wild ride, and fans everywhere are very eager to see what Showtime has in store for the highly anticipated followup. One thing that is for sure is that Kidding’s second season will have plenty of puppets, shenanigans, and shocking moments (including a guest appearance from Ariana Grande) that subscribers will not want to miss.
