2020 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings 7-round mock
This isn’t a position of need for the Vikings. Anthony Harris was kept on the franchise tag while Harrison Smith is signed long-term and is one of the best in the business. Still, Brandon Jones provides great value on the back end of the fourth round.
At 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds, Jones is somewhat undersized but could provide versatility as a center-fielder type on the back end. With Andrew Sandejo leaving for the Cleveland Browns, there’s an opening for a third safety who can also play on special teams
Minnesota should be looking at the best player available once it gets into the third day, regardless of position. The Vikings could do worse than Jones, who starred at Texas to the tune of second-team All-Big 12 with the Longhorns a year ago.
With the mass exodus of talent from Minnesota’s secondary this offseason, restocking with high-upside players is a smart move.
