5 best things you can watch from the NHL’s Pause Binge collection

4. Welcome to the NHL
This documentary from the NHL’s archives follows the top draft picks from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft in Jack Hughes, Kaapo Kakko, Dylan Cozens and Cole Caufield as they prepare for and go through last year’s draft.
The NHL always does a great job with their documentaries, letting the players speak for themselves and finding interesting ways to tell their stories. This documentary lets us look inside the sweet and heartwarming moments between the families and friends of the 2019 draft class before, during and after the event, a look that only the NHL can provide.
(Plus, can we talk about the moment Caufield shares with his mom as she says she’s proud of him? An instant tear-jerker. Also, Caufield having comic book onomatopoeia’s stitched into his suit is a lovely touch of personality.)
It’s also a great inside look at how the NHL’s drafts operate. Most fans tune into the draft and see the high-quality production the league pumps out each year, but the documentary draws back the curtain just a bit into the ins and outs of how the event goes each year.
Like many of the NHL’s documentaries over the years — since they were made to be broadcast on NHL Network — this one is less than 25 minutes, but still a really great inside look at how last year’s draft class dealt with the pressure of their situations.
