Second Round

San Francisco does not have a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This stems from a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for defensive end Dee Ford ahead. Kansas City has the No. 63 pick in the second round of the upcoming draft because of this trade. This offsets the Chiefs losing their own second-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in a deal for defensive end Frank Clark.

Third Round

The 49ers do not have a third round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This stems from a trade made mid-year last season with the Denver Broncos for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. San Francisco also gave up a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to get Sanders for half of the season. He ended up signing with the New Orleans Saints in his impending free agency.

The Sanders trade really hurts the 49ers’ ability to address all three of their primary draft needs in the first three rounds. Unless they plan to move back from No. 13 or No. 31, they will have to wait until the fifth round to help round out their offensive tackle depth. Look for them to take someone like Jack Driscoll out of Auburn with the No. 156 pick in the fifth round.

San Francisco is fortunate to have two fifth-round picks this year. The No. 156 pick comes from the Broncos in the trade for Sanders. With their own pick at No. 176 in the latter part of the fifth round, look for the 49ers to double-down on offensive line depth by taking guard Steven Gonzalez out of Penn State.
