The latest Bachelor spin-off is Bach meets American Idol. It’s a journey to find love, but also an elimination music competition. Here’s how it works, and how you win.

The Bachelor presents Listen to Your Heart, a.k.a. The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, a.k.a. The Bachelor LTYH is no ordinary Bachelor spin-off. No, no, ABC didn’t just swap the gender or up the average age, Listen to Your Heart is all about finding love through music, but also being judged for your musical ability, or more specifically your ability to sell and/or perform your love to a panel of Bachelor alums and music industry heavyweights throughout a six-week event.

Which is to say, The Bachelor LTYH contestants can very much win. Here’s how it works.

How The Bachelor Listen to Your Heart works

More from Entertainment

The Bachelor LTYH begins with a group of “hopefuls” who are, according to ABC, in search of lasting partnership, both romantically and as a musical duo.

Again, per ABC, the bachelor and bachelorettes will meet and “explore their relationships” while going on music-focused dates. (So many country concerts are in our future.) They also live in the same house.

Once a couple commits, they will then be “tested” through musical challenges. This will involve live performances in front of the aforementioned judges: both those in the music industry and Bachelor Nation.

At this point, the details gets vague (we’ll update this post as we learn more) but then the couples “whose performances reveal their love” the best will move on while others are eliminated.

It’s unclear whether the elimination and challenges start right from the first episode or if, like Love is Blind, there is a dating period of a few episodes before the competition element kicks into gear.

In any case, the show ends with a finale showdown between two couples. The winning couple will receive the “opportunity” to write and record original music, as well as film a music video. The winners will also go on a tour after the finale (presumably post-pandemic) and, one has to imagine, provide date entertainment on a future episode of The Bachelor or Bachelorette.
