5 teams that won the 2020 NFL Draft
1. Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones deserves the criticism he gets from a lot of NFL fans, but there’s nothing to criticize about his efforts in this year’s draft. It all started when the Cowboys got the steal of the first round when CeeDee Lamb fell into their laps.
The former Oklahoma star is going to catch a ton of passes from Dak Prescott next season. The presence of Amari Cooper on the outside is going to give Lamb a lot of chances to work against single coverage on the inside. He’s going to torch that kind of coverage and produce big plays for this offense as a rookie.
Trevon Diggs isn’t a perfect cornerback prospect, but he was a good value choice in Round 2. He’ll have to be protected a little bit to cover up for his lack of top end speed, but he’s really good against short and intermediate routes. He projects as a rookie starter for Dallas.
Neville Gallimore might not start right away, but he’ll play meaningful snaps at defensive tackle for the Cowboys before the year is up. His combination of size and strength gives him a chance to develop into a quality starter. That’s nice value in Round 3.
The front office’s good work didn’t stop when Day Two ended. The Cowboys came back on Day Three and drafted two players who will boost their depth at key positions. Tyler Biadasz will help soften the blow of Travis Frederick’s retirement. Bradlee Anae has some real twitch that can supplment what the team has at edge rusher. This wasn’t just a good draft for the Cowboys, it’s a great class overall.
