Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 NFL Draft grades: Chase Claypool primes receiving corps

Fourth Round
It’ll be interesting to watch the Steelers play on Monday Night Football this year, as Booger McFarland’s son Anthony McFarland Jr. now plays his ball in Pittsburgh. The former Maryland Terrapin running back goes to the Steelers at No. 124 overall in the fourth round. He will be a nice fit alongside James Conner and Benny Snell in the Steelers backfield. It’s a good spot for him.
Pittsburgh used its No. 135 overall pick it got in addition to Minkah Fitzpatrick in the trade with the Miami Dolphins. This pick originally belonged to the Tennessee Titans who dealt it to Miami in the Ryan Tannehill deal. The Steelers used No. 135 on offensive guard Kevin Dotson out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He is the second Group of five players taken by Pittsburgh this spring.
Fifth Round
Pittsburgh did not have a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The No. 154 overall pick they got from the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Joshua Dobbs deal went to the Miami Dolphins in the trade package for Minkah Fitzpatrick. The No. 162 overall pick went to the Seattle Seahawks for tight end Nick Vannett, who swapped it to the Washington Redskins for cornerback Quinton Dunbar.
Sixth Round
Two rounds after adding McFarland to the running back room, the Steelers add another former Terrapin stand out by using the No. 198 overall pick in the sixth round on Maryland safety Antoine Brooks Jr. He’ll have to battle for playing time as a rookie, but he joins what should be a very dominant Steelers defense in 2020.
Seventh Round
The Steelers wrap up their 2020 NFL Draft by using the No. 232 overall selection in the seventh round on Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive tackle Carlos Davis. He becomes the third Big Ten player to be selected by the Steelers in day three of the draft. Of their six picks, Pittsburgh did a good job of balance by getting three players on both sides of the football.
