This week, the PGA Tour presents the Draftkings community with the RBC Heritage! Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key statistics that I feel are the most vital to a golfer’s success this week.

The 2020 RBC Heritage will be played at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The golf course is a par 71 that measures 7,099 yards. The track offers ten holes with water hazards and tree lined fairways that requires precision off the tee. It should also be noted that this Pete Dye designed course offers small bermuda grass greens that are difficult to hit from the rough.

The key statistics that I will be focusing on this week are driving accuracy, strokes gained tee to green, proximity to hole, scrambling, and overall putting average.

Sungjae Im $9,700

The 22 year old Korean is quite simply an exceptional golfer. As a matter of fact, I was telling a friend of mine recently that if I was buying stock in a golfer’s ability to produce wins on the PGA Tour in the next five years that it would no doubt be Sungjae Im.

Let me shed some light on why I see a bright future on the horizon for Mr. Im. In 2018, Im won the Korn Ferry Tour player of the year award en route to earning his card to play on the PGA Tour. Im arrived on the PGA Tour in 2019 to much fan fare. Im certainly did not relent to the pressure in his rookie year. He posted an amazing 15 top 26 finishes in 2019 on his way to a rookie of the year award.

Shifting our focus to 2020, Im has continued to perform at a high level on the golf course. Sungjae has four top ten finishes on the PGA Tour in 2020, including his first win at the Honda Classic in March.

Im also checks the box for me when it comes to key statistics. He is currently ranked 17th in strokes gained tee to green (1.049), 27th in proximity to hole (34’5), and 12th in overall putting average (1.568) on the PGA Tour.

Jordan Spieth $8,700

It is no secret to golf fans that Jordan Spieth has struggled with his game over the last year or so. However, Spieth’s play last week in Texas tells me that he is close to turning the corner to more consistent positive tournament results. I also think that the golf course that Spieth will play this week definitely suits his skill set. His previous results at this event confirms that theory. Spieth has three career top 12 finishes at the RBC Heritage.

Matt Kuchar $8,300

Yes, I know that Kuchar missed the cut at last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. Having stated that, he did miss playing the weekend by just one shot. I am willing to give Kuchar a pass after an unexpected 90 day stoppage of play due to the COVID-19 virus.

This week, Kuchar arrives at an event where he has had an immense amount of success through the years. How much success? Well, Kuchar has played the RBC Heritage 15 times since 2004. In those 15 events played at the Harbour Town Golf Links, Kuchar has ten top 23 finishes, including a win in 2014.

Branden Grace $7,800

He finished 19th at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week. Additionally, Grace won the 2016 RBC Heritage.

Kevin Kisner $7,700

Kisner has played the RBC Heritage the last six years. In those six events played, he has three top 11 finishes. Kisner also finished fourth at the Sony Open earlier this year.

Brian Stuard $6,600

Stuard currently ranks sixth in driving accuracy percentage (72.33%) on the PGA Tour. He finished 23rd at the Genesis Invitational in February. More recently, he fired a final round 64 in last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. In my opinion, Stuard presents outstanding value at a Draftkings price of only $6,600.
