Sidy Rocha’s forearm fracture at SFT 22 is almost too disgusting to believe.

There are nasty, gruesome, and downright horrific injuries that can occur in mixed martial arts, and then there’s what we saw during SFT 22’s co-main event between women’s bantamweight fighters Karine Silva and Sidy Rocha.

WARNING: The images displayed are graphic and could be disturbing to some viewers.

The event which took place in Sao Paolo, Brazil, featured a six-fight main card of all women’s bouts, promoting breast cancer awareness and prompting many of the fighters to wear pink. By the time Silva and Rocha stepped in for the co-main event, two submissions had already taken place in the cage, none more grotesque than what was to come.

With just under three minutes remaining in the first round, Rocha found herself caught in an armbar while still on her feet. Falling to the canvas in an effort to rid Silva’s submission attempt, the move seemed successful as Rocha didn’t tap and broke free from Silva’s grasp.

It wasn’t until after the two broke apart for a moment that the referee noticed Rocha’s fractured forearm and stopped the contest immediately. You’ll notice that the referee does a good job of instantly calling for medical personnel while holding up Rocha’s arm following the bout’s conclusion.

Rocha’s broken forearm becomes the latest headline in a recent string of brutal MMA injuries. Last week we saw a fighter’s ear nearly ripped from his skull at Taura MMA 10, but where does the product of Silva’s fatal armbar rank in women’s MMA?

For 43-year-old Sidy Rocha, the defeat marks her second straight loss and the third in her last four fights. We saw what a horrible bone-break did to the career of Anderson Silva, it’ll be interesting to see the direction her fighting career takes after an injury like this.
