Scouting Report. 51. Pick Analysis. . Los Angeles Rams. Sean McVay. 9. player

It wasn’t that long ago when McVay was considered to be one of the brightest offensive minds of the game. The massive step Jared Goff took backwards in 2019 now places significant pressure on McVay to perform some magic in 2020.

That likely means the Rams are going to need to find a way to overcome either the 49ers or Seahawks in their own division. Anything short of a playoff berth is going to register as a mild disappointment for the franchise.

Putting Goff’s career back on track has to be McVay’s top priority. He simply has to become more accurate with the football. His completion percentage of just 62.9 last season was a big reason for his team’s struggles. Goff doesn’t have the arm talent to make a ton of dynamic plays. He has to operate with precision to be successful.

That means McVay will need to recreate his offense. He caught the league off guard in 2018 but the competition caught up to his play-action game last year. His ability to continue to adapt to life in the NFL is still an open question. This is quietly a big year for McVay if he wants to maintain his reputation as an offensive genius.
