Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a massive four-year extension

For the second week in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs are taking over the NFL world with some huge extension news. First, Patrick Mahomes signed his 10-year, $503 million deal. Now, the Kansas City front office has pulled a stunner and gotten things done with Chris Jones as well.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported the Chiefs and Jones were able to agree to a big-time four-year deal. And while it’s not in the $500 million range, Jones won’t be losing any sleep at night over the amount of dough Kansas City just gave him.

Chris Jones’ new deal with the Chiefs includes $60 million in guaranteed money

Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, the new four-year contract is worth $85 million, with an eye-opening $60 million in guaranteed money. With the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign a new contract coming on Wednesday, few out there really thought the two sides would be able to come to an agreement. Leave it to general manager Brett Veach to create even more offseason magic.

For Jones, there’s no denying he’s worthy of his incredibly big pay day. In 2019, the 6-6, 310-pounder posted 36 tackles and an impressive nine sacks. With Jones manning the defensive front, the Chiefs went on their glorious Super Bowl run, with the massive DT having an incredible game to help the team lift the Lombardi Trophy.

In that win over the San Francisco 49ers, Jones was so dominant, countless scribes believed he should have been named the MVP. He didn’t mind seeing Mahomes take the glory, though, as winning a Super Bowl was surely more than enough for him.

With both Mahomes and Jones locked up for a while, it’s clear the Chiefs have been this offseason’s biggest winners. With this coming after they won the Super Bowl too, we could be talking about a dynasty here in the coming years.
