It’s been a long time coming, but Chicharito has finally hit the back of the net for the LA Galaxy.

In the LA Galaxy’s first match of the MLS is Back Tournament, Javier Hernandez, better known as Chicharito, netted home his long-awaited first goal in the MLS.

After an illustrious professional career, Chicharito followed in the footsteps of many other aging stars to complete his career in America with the MLS. The apparent heir to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Chicharito’s debut season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, MLS’ top-paid player has finally made good on the investment, burying his first goal in the 88th minute of a 2-1 loss to the Portland Timbers. That isn’t to say it came easy though, as Chicharito blundered a penalty kick all the way back in the twelfth minute that could have changed the outcome in Orlando.

Is it a coincidence Chicharito’s first MLS goal came in the most magical place of all?

There have been high expectations for Chicharito coming into the MLS due to his style of play and track record throughout the world. The Mexican striker possesses a level of pace and awareness within the attacking third that has made him a lethal goal-scoring threat regardless of where he plays, whether it be Manchester United or the Mexican national team. That was certainly what we saw in his first goal and we are hoping for much more of the same.

Chicharito looks to build on his momentum this Saturday in an unconventional installment of “El Trafico” as the Galaxy take on LAFC.
