DraftKings MLB picks July 28: And Justus for all

This is a weird DraftKings MLB slate. There is now a doubleheader due to the rainout in Cleveland last night. That game might be tacked on to the early or all day slate. The Nationals, Rays, and Reds had the audacity to start before 7pm Eastern, so they are quarantined to a short slate with the Phillies-Yankees if that game plays.

The Marlins and Orioles aren’t playing until Wednesday, so that game is off as well. DraftKings also lopped off the second game of the White Sox-Cleveland double dipper. That means no Carlos Rodon, who would have been one of the best pitchers on the slate. We’re in for another one of those nights.

If you are planning on playing the early DraftKings MLB slate, Austin Voth might just be the best pitcher on the slate. Yonny Chirinos is very tempting considering the Braves’ alarming strikeout rates to start the season.

As for hitters, stacking the Cubs/Reds game is a good way to go, especially the Cubs side. They have hit Mahle hard. A few Nationals pieces against former teammate Tanner Roark isn’t out of the question, but don’t go too crazy with it. They haven’t hit him hard.

Thankfully the weather looks like it will cooperate. There’s a slight chance of rain in Dallas, but it’s very slight. It’s going to be nice and humid for all of the Texas and California games along with Boston, so hitters get a bit of a boost in all those games. The wind is blowing out to right in Cleveland and left in Detroit, so keep an eye on that as well.

Last night was an epic disaster with several pitchers losing points and several more not getting out of single digits. The Reds offense not showing up against Lester didn’t help either.

Be prepared for more slates like last night than any other this year. The coronavirus means things aren’t anywhere close to normal for the players on the filed.

These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. I recommend checking out RotoBallers for optimizers and other statistical tools to help put your best lineup forward.
