Pete Alonso got to live out a dream at Fenway Park after a slight delay

Just one day after hitting his first home run of a shortened 2020 MLB season, Pete Alonso got to fulfill a childhood dream, going behind the scenes of the Green Monster at Fenway Park. Alonso, who tried to get into the Monstah on Monday, was barred from entering for reasons we’re not quite understanding of.

“I’m not a little upset,” Alonso said on Monday. “I’m a lot upset.”

Pete Alonso couldn’t get in to the Green Monster yesterday, so he punished the Red Sox

Alonso took out his frustration on the Red Sox, whose starting rotation has struggled and then some to start the season. The homer was Alonso’s hardest-hit to date, coming in at 116.3 MPH per statcast.

“It’s been a little while since I hit my last homer,” said Alonso. “So it’s nice to get that one out of the way.”

Boston learned their lesson, giving in to Alonso’s demands on Tuesday.

Alonso broke a 10-game homer-less drought, which is a rarity for him, given his NL Rookie of the Year campaign just one season ago. The 25-year-old had 53 long balls just last season, and at that pace is due for just shy of 20 in a 60-game campaign.

The Mets success this season begins with Alonso, but beyond a powerful lineup, their bullpen is potentially lacking. While No. 20 got to live out a childhood dream, the Mets better hope some of that magic rubs off on the likes of Edwin Diaz, Seth Lugo, Dellin Betances and the like, as the back end truly has breakout potential.

But where have Mets fans heard that before?
