Per multiple reports, the 49ers and John Lynch are finalizing a contract extension

As a player, John Lynch was known for being a bruising defensive back. Now, the former standout safety is making big-time plays in the front office for the San Francisco 49ers as the team’s general manager, helping them get to the Super Bowl last season.

It goes without saying, but Lynch has made some incredible moves with the organization, something the higher ups have taken notice of. That’s surely why they’re going to reward the 42-year-old GM with a fresh new contract.

John Lynch has helped the 49ers become one of the best-run organizations in the NFL

After a spectacular playing career, Lynch officially joined the 49ers as the organization’s new GM back in January of 2017. It raised plenty of eyebrows at the time, but everyone who blasted San Francisco for going with Lynch has surely been proven wrong.

The 49ers have been among the best in the NFC in recent years, taking things to a new level last campaign by getting back to the Super Bowl. San Francisco was on the verge of bringing home another Lombardi Trophy, but a magical late run from Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs spoiled those plans.

Still, the 49ers are expected to once again be serious contenders this upcoming fall, and are considered the favorites to win the NFC West over the Seattle Seahawks. Lynch is a big reason for this.

49ers fans couldn’t be happier with the job Lynch is doing. Now all that’s left is for San Francisco to take down the rest of the league and win a Super Bowl. That could be coming sooner than later.
